SUBSTANCE SCORES
WHY THE PRICE IS JUSTIFIED
Its premium is defensible—just—because the kinked spout remains cohesive at bloom flow, the counterweighted handle materially reduces wrist effort, and the PID, full-color UI, altitude setting, timer and adjustable hold/chime controls are genuinely useful. It is not more repairable than cheaper kettles, so avoid decorative Studio finishes and wood options unless aesthetics alone are worth the surcharge.
MATERIALS
Corrosion-resistant hot-water path with no plastic vessel lining.
Thermally isolates the grip; optional wood is cosmetic rather than a performance upgrade.
Tolerates brewing temperatures and seals the lid without a hard-plastic water-contact surface.
CRITERIA
IDEAL FOR
- ·Exacting V60/Kalita brewers
- ·People with wrist-fatigue concerns
- ·Design-conscious kitchens
- ·Users who value configurable feedback
NOT FOR
- ·Value-first buyers
- ·Large-volume boiling
- ·Owners demanding field repairability
DESIGN & ERGONOMICS
The best-integrated object here: stable counterweighted grip, compact base and legible color display. Slow-flow ergonomics are excellent; at extreme tilt the lid can drip, and menus are more complex than OXO’s.
LONGEVITY
Two-year warranty and replaceable external pieces, but core electronics are sealed. Descale regularly; expect replacement rather than component repair after an electrical failure.
