WHY THE PRICE IS JUSTIFIED

The price buys a compact brushless drive, unusually low height and mass, low measured vibration, a rotating extraction fitting and replaceable pads—not a cosmetic badge. Independent comparison found it excellent for vertical/overhead work, although not demonstrably faster than Festool in that particular test.

MATERIALS

MotorBrushless electric motor

Eliminates carbon-brush wear and keeps the tool compact.

HousingLightweight polymer body

The low 1 kg-class form and low centre of gravity reduce hand and hose fatigue.

PadHook-and-loop, 125/150 mm interchangeable pad system

Allows common disc sizes and replacement wear parts.

CRITERIA

9/10
Finish ControlIndependent comparison found surface quality indistinguishable from ETS EC; 5 mm orbit is controlled rather than geared.
8/10
Material RemovalFineWoodworking found excellent removal with vacuum; Wood Whisperer did not find a speed advantage over ETS EC.
9/10
Dust CaptureThrough-pad central-vacuum design; FineWoodworking reported excellent collection when vacuumed.
10/10
Vibration ErgonomicsLow 1 kg-class body, 95 mm height and reported 3.4 m/s² vibration support continuous use.
9/10
Durability ServiceBrushless architecture avoids brush wear; pads and cable are replaceable.
8/10
Usability Compatibility125/150 mm pads are supplied in common variants, but best extraction relies on a vacuum.

IDEAL FOR

  • ·Daily finishing work
  • ·Vertical panels and ceilings
  • ·Dust-controlled cabinetry

NOT FOR

  • ·Low-budget occasional use
  • ·Users who dislike paddle switches
  • ·Vacuum-free sanding

DESIGN & ERGONOMICS

An exceptionally low, paddle-controlled body feels like an extension of the hand. The low centre of gravity is superb on vertical work; some woodworkers will prefer a conventional on/off switch.

LONGEVITY

Brushless drive removes a common wear item; pads, cables and accessories are available through Mirka dealers. Plan on a vacuum and correctly perforated abrasive for the intended dust performance.
