Prices checked against current US listings on 2026-07-13; fuel is normally sold separately and shipping rules vary. Honest bands: $2–15 buys excellent basic utility (Clipper, JetLite, Cyclone); $20–80 buys weather sealing, professional burners, larger tanks or stronger warranties; around $100+ should buy demonstrably tight machining, solid stock and long-term parts—not merely lacquer, precious-met
Tokyo Pipe Co.
Machined from solid brass to 0.001-inch tolerances, its airtight closure slows naphtha evaporation that plagues ordinary petrol lighters. Replaceable wick, flint and seals support decades of service.
$99
IMCO
A removable aluminum tank doubles as a candle or pipe lighter, and single-motion ignition needs no separate flint strike. Tool-free wick and flint swaps keep it running for years.
$24
XIKAR
An oversized textured trigger and dual jets hold ignition steady past 12,000 feet, backed by a visible fuel gauge and a limited lifetime warranty covering internal repairs.
$70
Zippo
Its brass insert and chimney design deliver decades of pocket wear and an unconditional lifetime repair guarantee, though the unsealed reservoir loses naphtha within one to two weeks.
$25
Exotac
CNC-machined aluminum and dual O-ring seals keep this lighter functional after submersion past one meter. Tool-free access lets owners swap flint, wick and O-rings in the field.
$57
Blazer
Japan-made valve and burner assembly light on the first click roughly nine times in ten, per forum testing, and sustain a 2,500°F jet through workshop-grade duty cycles.
