The real engineering upgrade is an inverter supply: unlike ordinary microwaves that imitate low power by cycling full power on and off, it can supply steady reduced power—meaning gentler defrosting and fewer edge/center differences. Do not pay extra merely for a large button count, Wi‑Fi/app recipes, black-stainless cosmetics, or an air-fryer label. At roughly $100–150, prioritize a clear keypad/h

Top PickTwo physical dials replace the usual button maze, and a soft-close hinge cuts door noise by roughly 80%. Power Smoothing Inverter and RTINGS testing back genuine even heating—premium pricing matches real hardware gains.

Wirecutter's testing found this the most even-heating midsize microwave in its lineup, driven by true inverter power rather than on/off cycling. The membrane panel skips instant-start keys, trading speed for sensor accuracy.

Good Housekeeping's lab found this combo unit's mac-and-cheese reheat more even than every single-purpose microwave tested. Seven modes add real convection and air-fry capability, but also a steeper control learning curve.

A 13.6-inch turntable and 1250W Origin Inverter deliver large-capacity, steady-power heating for well under $250. Styling is plain stainless-box, but the keypad-and-handle layout needs no manual.

Express-start keys and a pull handle beat menu-diving touchpads at this price. Serious Eats measured corner-to-center lasagna spreads of just 15°F, though owners report mixed control longevity past year three.
