Current top recommendation: PLOTTER Pueblo 6-Ring Leather Binder A5.
$242
PLOTTER
Top PickItalian Pueblo leather over a brass backplate keeps this A5 binder to 15mm thick while opening past 180 degrees. Eighty-sheet ring capacity forces discipline; DP paper handles fountain pens cleanly.

Galen Leather
A YKK zipper and velvet lining protect Midori, Hobonichi or Leuchtturm inserts inside vegetable-tanned leather, so paper choice stays open. Removable pen holder can bulge the writing surface if overpacked.
$59
Lochby
Waxed canvas with double-stitched, bartacked seams shrugs off weather and holds up to four notebooks, including the bundled Tomoe River insert testers report resists bleed and feather.
$60
Endless Stationery
Full-grain leather holds three swappable notebooks with elastics a reviewer calls neatly finished. Confirm current insert weight before buying: retailer stock now ships 80gsm paper, not the reviewed 68gsm sheets.
$85
paper republic
Thick vegetable-tanned leather from Vienna resists fraying, but the XL cover only fits notebooks up to 140x200mm despite the larger case size. Check insert dimensions before ordering.
$25
Filofax
BUDGETA twin-wire spine lays fully flat and lets pages fold back, something no elastic-bound cover offers at this price. The 100gsm paper shows almost no bleed or ghosting, per independent testing.
$60
Traveler’s Company
The $60 kit includes Thai leather, Japanese MD paper and an intentionally serviceable elastic/refill architecture. Independent long-term use specifica (Cowhide vegetable-tanned leather, MD Paper, saddle stitched) — $60
