MARKET NOTE
A good tea pot is principally a fluid-control and thermal-management tool—not a decorative kettle. I weighted clean, controlled spouts and secure lids most heavily, then chose the body material for the tea: neutral borosilicate for visual/delicate brewing; glazed porcelain or high-fired ceramic for all-round heat stability; enamelled cast iron for deliberately long, hot service. Current top recommendation: Zero Japan Universal Teapot, 32 oz.

Zero Japan
Top PickClip-on lid triggers with a single thumb press, freeing the pour hand entirely. The narrowed spout delivers a clean stream—enthusiasts on Steepster confirm zero drips after repeated daily use.
$49
A silicone gasket locks the lid through a full hot pour, while the 0.3mm extra-fine basket strains rooibos dust without choking whole-leaf flow. Balance holds steady even when filled.
$43
The hinged lid stays attached through every pour, eliminating the usual lid-loss risk. Its 0.3mm basket strains rooibos as readily as whole-leaf oolong, in a stackable two-cup body.
$30
Food & Wine measured a 26°F drop over 20 minutes—real retention data, not a claim. The infuser clips over the handle so it stays put mid-pour, reducing splash risk on tilt.

BUDGETThe full-width basket lets leaves unfurl rather than compress, and Food & Wine's pour test recorded very few drips from its short spout. Heatproof glass, priced under $25.
$105
Enamelled cast iron holds heat longer than glass or porcelain, built for slow two-person service. At 1.3kg empty, weight replaces convenience—hand-wash only, no dishwasher.
$22
An independent pour test called it 'completely drip-free' at multiple angles. The lid seats securely even with the infuser removed, useful for steeping without the basket.
