WHY THE PRICE IS JUSTIFIED

The price is supported by a magnesium-alloy chassis, XD/ED objective optics, phase-coated prisms, waterproof nitrogen-filled construction, an 8.2-degree field of view and 1.8 m close focus. Independent testing found a bright, crisp, colorful image and a smooth focus wheel, while noting the price is near the top of the tested range.

IDEAL FOR

·Birdwatchers needing a wide field and close focus
·Outdoor users wanting a compact 8x42
·Observers who value a light magnesium-alloy body
·Nature walks in changing weather

NOT FOR

DESIGN & ERGONOMICS

Compact, narrow barrels with thumb contours and a textured focus wheel make it easy to hold. The eyecups are precise but stiff, and the body may be slippery when wet.

LONGEVITY

The manufacturer specifies waterproof, nitrogen-filled construction and lists a 10-year warranty on its European product page. Official spare protection caps are listed, but broader repair and parts availability is not established here.
