WHY THE PRICE IS JUSTIFIED

Its price reflects ED glass, phase-correction and dielectric prism coatings, full multilayer coating, oil- and water-repellent lenses, O-ring sealing, nitrogen filling and a wide 8.3-degree field. Independent testing found a bright, crisp image and comfortable handling, with a slightly stiff focus wheel as the main operational drawback.

DESIGN & ERGONOMICS

Balanced, narrow barrels fit medium and large hands well. The rubber grip, locking diopter and multi-click eyecups are practical; the focus wheel requires a deliberate initial push.

LONGEVITY

Nikon specifies waterproofing to 1 m for 10 minutes, nitrogen filling and a shock-resistant rubber exterior. Warranty and comprehensive spare-parts coverage were not established in the supplied evidence.
